DCAN is seeking middle and high schools with a strong commitment from the building principal, school counseling team, and dedicated college and career readiness staff to move the needle on college access and success metrics for the Detroit College Bound Middle & High School grant. The ultimate goal of the grant is that schools increase their baseline college enrollment, persistence, or graduation data by at least 5% (if relevant) and ensure that every student has a college and career plan.
Middle and high schools that can commit to attend regular college access and success learning meetings, assemble a Postsecondary Advisory Council, assess their college-going culture and school counseling capacity, analyze disaggregated student outcomes data, and identify and improve a college access or success area of improvement.
The goal of the grant is to support schools with improving their college-going cultures by providing funding and support to increase their baseline college enrollment, persistence, or graduation data by at least 5% and ensure that every student has a college and career plan.
