ABOUT DASC
Who We Are
DASC is a citywide network of practitioners, organizations, and partners dedicated to improving postsecondary success outcomes for Detroit students. Led by DCAN, DASC strengthens collaboration among youth-serving organizations, higher education institutions, and systems leaders to ensure Detroit students receive the support they need beyond high school graduation and throughout their postsecondary journey.
Our Vision
Youth served by DASC member organizations have the support and resources they need to complete a postsecondary degree or certificate and are economically empowered.
Our Values
Our Commitment To Equity
We work to close the completion gap for students who are underrepresented in all postsecondary pathways, particularly students who identify as Black, Latinx, Indigenous and/or of a historically marginalized community. Members listen deeply to the youth and families they serve and take responsibility for their voices being visitrhu in our collective learning and action. We center solutions offered by practitioners who have a shared identity or a cultural connection to youths’ lived experiences. All Detroit area postsecondary success providers who take responsibility for advancing equitable change are included in our work. We believe our work will create generational wealth and health for youth, families and communities.
“DASC's continued and primary role is as a collective of organizations across Detroit committed to supporting students not only in accessing college, but in persisting, graduating and transitioning successfully into careers and community leadership. What makes this work powerful is the collaboration across nonprofits, school partners, and postsecondary institutions that are all aligned around strengthening alumni success for Detroit students.”
