DETROIT COLLEGE BOUND

Detroit College Bound (DCB) is a new DCAN pilot initiative designed to support Detroit-area students and the professionals who help them navigate their postsecondary journey. Developed in partnership with Detroit Promise and DCAN’s network of college access partners, DCB brings together four key opportunities throughout the year to help students explore their options, take action, access financial support, and celebrate their next steps.

    Held in October, Michigan College Month gives seniors dedicated opportunities to explore postsecondary options, complete college applications, and receive support throughout the college-going process.

    Connect students to the Detroit Promise scholarship application while equipping college access professionals with additional knowledge and resources through Detroit Promise online training.

    Use DCAN FAFSA Scorecards to monitor progress toward your established FAFSA completion goal, identify students who need support, and create opportunities for FAFSA completion.

    Celebrate seniors and their postsecondary plans while highlighting the many pathways students may pursue after high school.

What Participating Sites Receive

Participating schools and organizations will have access to:

  • DCAN resources and tools

  • Professional development opportunities

  • Graduate 313 support

  • Partnership connections

  • DCAN programming and ongoing support

  • Up to $500 in initiative support

    • $250 for registering

    • $250 once the required information is returned

2026–27 Key Dates

  • October 2026  - Michigan College Month

  • December 18, 2026 - Winter Update Due

  • April 23, 2027 - Spring Update Due

  • Around May 1, 2027 - Decision Day

  • June 30, 2027 - Detroit: College Bound Closeout

What Participating Sites Commit To

Participating sites will:

  • Engage seniors in Michigan College Month activities and college application support

  • Promote and support Detroit Promise scholarship completion

  • Monitor FAFSA progress and work toward their established DCAN goal

  • Host a Decision Day or postsecondary celebration

  • Submit requested participation information by established deadlines

  • Communicate with DCAN and share feedback about their experience
