Resource Centers and Support

If you are a current DPSCD student, you have a unique opportunity to participate in a variety of trade programs while in HS. You will receive hands on experience and obtain your credentials needed work in your program of interest. Some programs you can even start earning income while earning your credentials.

Use this opportunity not as a way to get out of school but to align with viable employment after graduation!

Detroit At Work offers dozens of free job training program opportunities for Detroit residents to obtain credentials in high demand skilled trade roles needed within Metro Detroit.

Need help with your resume, or computer skills, or online job applications? This is also provided  to the Detroit at Work community to engage in online workshops along with a host of other free resources!

Focus HOPE offers an array of job training skilled trade programs. 

Prospective students must: 

  • Have a high school diploma or GED for all programs except Earn & Learn, Hi-Lo/Logistics, Production Worker, and Truck Driving Programs. 

  • Pass a drug screen and physical (if applicable)

  • Pass an admissions test at required levels for the program of interest. Testing is conducted every Tues & Thurs at 9:30a

A community based non profit that supports community development in Detroit. One of their projects being "Opportunity Hubs", the first being within the old Durfee Elementary/Middle school building now called the Durfee Innovation Society. 

Within the innovation society there are dozens of programs within education, workforce development, entrepreneurship, and human services who now call this space home. Check out the tenants here!

You can use your Detroit Promise Free-Tuition Scholarship towards obtaining your credentials for a skilled trade program. The Detroit Promise Scholarship is for 4-yr, 2 yr, and certification programs at participating schools. Below you will find the participating schools that have trade programs that you can enroll in!
